2010 College Football Week 1 Predictions: The Virginia Tech Hokies will try to reach their fourth ACC title game in six years on the broad shoulders of a powerful offense. Long known for their stifling defense and outstanding special teams, this year’s Hokies squad is top-heavy with on offense with a fleet of playmakers. The defense faces a rebuilding year but if they can gel quickly this could be a national title contender once again for Frank Beamer and his excellent staff. College Football Predictions Week 1 Analysis: The Virginia Tech Offense has the potential to score 50+ points per game. The offense is littered across the board with blue-chip talent and can do damage through the air or on the ground. QB Tyrod Taylor is a proven winner that can do damage with his arm or legs and has a nice set of targets to throw to. RB Ryan Williams is a load to take down and he teams with dynamic backup Darren Evans to form one of the best combos in the country. The only question mark is the O-line which looks solid but has a questionable left side.

The Virginia Tech defense might be short on experience but they have plenty of athleticism. Projecting how that talent will actually pan out however is a crapshoot. Well respected Defensive coordinator Bud Foster claims that this is one the fastest groups that he has ever had so the jury will be out until they play. Special teams have a game-breaker in returner Dyrell Roberts.
