College Football Predictions Offense: An offense that was primarily run oriented will have to adapt to a more passes being thrown after losing RB Ryan Matthews went the NFL (13th overall). The talent is in place to be formidable in the passing game. The receivers are athletic and deep and the offensive line returns five starters from last year’s 46th ranked scoring offense. Junior QB Ryan Colburn is a capable spread offense operator with 13 starts under his belt. Colburn has upside with agility and a strong arm. The passing game could struggle with consistency however behind a line that is built more for running the football. The rushing offense will be down a few notches after losing Matthews. So. running back Ryan Rouse is a good little back that has averaged 5.8 yards per carry but he is no Matthews.
College Football Predictions Defense: The Bulldogs defense could be what lets them down against Boise State. The secondary could be good enough to contain some good passing teams if the new talent can develop. The front-seven should be much against improved against the run from last year’s 111th ranked rush-defense. 1st team WAC MLB Ben Jacobs leads a nice set of LB’s and DE Chris Carter will create havoc up front. This should be a much improved defense from last year’s 84th ranked defense.
