Raiders Ink 1st Round LB Rolando McClain to 5-Year Deal Worth $40 Million: Unlike many NFL teams this season the Oakland Raiders didn’t waste much time in signing their 1st round draft pick by giving LB Rolando McClain a 5-year deal worth $40 million with $23.5 million guaranteed.  The Alabama Crimson Tide product helped his alma matter win the BCS Championship last season along with capturing the Butkus Award as the nation’s top linebacker.

NFL Picks Analysis: The 6’4” 250 Lb. McClain is a physically imposing middle linebacker that is expected to fill the big shoes left behind by Kirk Morrison. On paper McClain is the ideal fit to replaces Morrison. Rolando is a leader on the field that shows outstanding instincts. With a 4.80 40-time McClain does not possess prototypical speed but he is a force against the run on the inside McClain brings a nastiness and intensity to the gridiron that the Raiders have been lacking. While the attitude will help in the lockeroom McClain is not a true game-changer. McClain should be solid NFL starter and future captain of the Raiders defense.
