Baltimore Ravens Ink 2nd Round DT Terrence Cody For $3.38 Million: Baltimore got a major piece to their 2010 NFL draft class signed late Sunday night by giving 2nd round selection Terrence Cody a 4-year deal worth up to $3.385 million. The former Alabama defensive tackle’s contract also includes a $1.595 million signing bonus that will be predicated on how much playing time the rookie sees. Cody was considered a major gamble by the Ravens because of his battle of the bulge. Cody has ballooned up to 400+ Lbs. before but reported to the Ravens camp at a respectable playing weight of 350 Lbs.
 

NFL Predictions Analysis: Cody is expected to push 11-year veteran Kelly Gregg for the starting Nose Tackle position but he is still about 20 Lbs. off his ideal playing weight of 330 Lbs. The 6’4” Mount Cody is a space-eater in the middle that has shown the ability to diagnose plays quickly. However, inconsistency and stamina have been major issues that have held Cody back. The 2010 Baltimore Ravens NFL Futures AFC North Odds to win the division are at -115.

Many players that have had weight issues in college carry those bad habits into the NFL. Cody is a non-factor as a pass-rusher but he could be a decent run-stuffer if he gets in shape. Expecting Cody to develop into anything more than a gap-plugger would be a stretch though because he lacks the quickness to collaspe the pocket.
