USC 2010 College Football Predictions - 2011 BCS Odds: The USC Trojans had an annoying hiccup last year in former head coach Pete Carroll’s last season going 9-4 but make no mistake, this team is still the toast of Pac-10 football. Controversial new head coach Lane Kiffin has been fortunate enough to inherit another loaded Trojans squad that could hide his own coaching flaws. Our College Football Picks staff is projecting another double digit win season and a return to a major BCS bowl from the Southern Californaia boys.
College Football Predictions Offense: This should be a top-10 scoring offense with QB Matt Barkley finally coming into his own. The sophomore signal-caller had some rocky moments in his five starts as a freshman but he is a special talent that should have a fine year. Barkley has an excellent supporting cast with a deep and explosive running game serving as the main catalyst. The O-line and receiving corps are inexperienced but they are still among the best in the Pac-10.
College Football Predictions Defense: The Trojans defense is led by a ferocious front-seven that is fast and physical. The D-line has great depth and the linebacking corps is arguably as good as any other team in the nation. The secondary is still green but does boast a lockdown cover CB in Shareece Wright. This defense is much more experienced than last year’s unit and is a top-10 defense.
Coaching/Special Teams: Lane Kiffin might not be sharpest knife in the drawer but his dad defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin is a mastermind. Special teams should be improved but are still suspect.
