Boston College Eagles 2009 NCAA Football Predictions – ACC Atlantic Division: The Boston College Eagles have taken some hits in personnel as they enter the 2009 season with the loss of two All-American’s in B.J Raji and Ron Brace. B.C also will have a new Head Coach and some unproven Coordinators on both sides of the ball. The Eagles have 7 starters returning on offense but QB will be manned by either Dominique Davis or Justin Tuggle, who both have little experience. `Tuggle is the better athlete and was son of an NFL player but Davis very capable in his 4th start last year against Wake Forest. Whoever is behind center will be working behind a very-good offensive line that could be the Eagles best in 5 years. Also adding to the supporting cast is sure handed WR Rich Gunnell and RB Montel Harris who averaged 5.0 yards per carry for 900 yards rushing.

Boston College’s defense is led by Senior All-American linebacker Mark Herzlich. Herzlich is the main cog of what could be the finest linebacking corps in the ACC. Last season the Eagles defense was stifling against the run allowing only 2.8 yards per carry. Boston College will not be able to match that feat this season however, with a D-Line that looks ordinary with the losses of Brace and Raji. The secondary was very-good last season and 5 players return with starting experience. Special teams are below-average overall.

Boston College is expected to drop down the ACC Atlantic ladder following an appearance in the conference title game last year. Don’t count the Eagles out though. New Head Coach Frank Spaziani has been with the team 13 years and should be an improvement over Jeff Jagodzinski. QB Dominique Davis should be able to provide the team with enough for B.C to get 6 wins.
