Washington Redskins 2009 NFL Predictions, Win Total & 2010 Super Bowl Odds

Washington Redskins 2009 NFL Predictions, Win Total & 2010 Super Bowl Odds: Second year Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn and his quarterback Jason Campbell will be on the hot seat in 2009 after the high-priced 'Skins finished a mediocre 8-8 last season. Washington tried to replace the inconsistent Campbell in the off-season but were unable to land marquee free agent QB Jay Cutler or star college QB Mark Sanchez in the draft. The Redskins will have to make due with Campbell this season and were able to land an impact defensive player in DT Albert Haynesworth for a cool $100-million. The NFL predictions odds for the Washington Redskins to win the 2010 Super Bowl is listed at 18-1 odds at Sportsbook.com.

The offense has some speed and playmakers with RB Clinton Portis and WR Santana Moss. Also added in the off-season to a veteran O-Line was mammoth Guard Derrick Dockery. Zorn's West-Coast offense was clicking last season until Portis was slowed by injury and Campbell was relied on to do too much on offense. Campbell throws a nice deep ball and could have make some strides in 2009 if some of the younger receivers develop and All-Pro Portis stays healthy. The NFL predictions odds for the Philadelphia Eagles to win the NFC championship opened at 12-1 but moved to 8-1 with the signing of Albert Haynesworth.

Albert Haynesworth is a road-grading bull in the middle of a deep Redskins D-Line but will he have the same drive after receiving his GUARANTEED $41 million? The Redskins are betting big on the Haynesworth signing and if the gamble pays off they could be rewarded handsomly with a defense that doesn't give an inch against the run. The pass-rush was ho-hum last year but could get a boost from rookie DE Brian Orakpo. The linebacking unit is suspect and the secondary lost an important piece in cornerback Shawn Springs. The secondary does have good corners in Carlos Rodgers and DeAngelo Hall but Fred Smoot looks like a weak link as the nickelback.

After making the playoffs in 2007 Washington regressed in 2008 under rookie coach Jim Zorn. It won't get much easier for the Redskins even with the signing of Haynesworth in the rugged NFC East. Their is enough talent on this roster to win a division title in some other NFL divisions but playing in the NFC beast is brutal. This team has some durability issues and will need lady luck on their side to win more than 8 games with Jason Campbell at QB. The NFL predictions odds on the season Win Total for the Washington Redskins is listed at 7.5 WINS.
