Boxing News: Jean Pascal Captures World Title Over Chad Dawson: In a surprising upset Jean Pascal captured the Ring Light-Heavyweight Championship with a hard-fought 11th round technical decision over Chad Dawson, 29-1, 17 KO's. The fight was stopped on an accidental head-butt in the 11th and went to the scorecards where the hometown underdog Pascal was ahead on the scorecards 108-101, 106-103 and 106-103. Pascal, 26-1, 16 KO’s, was a +290 Boxing Betting underdog and cashed in big for his backers.
 

Boxing Picks Analysis: At the time of the stoppage Dawson had Pascal in trouble after hammering home a huge left uppercut. Pascal was visibly tired but Dawson did not show the necessary killer instinct to finish the job and minutes later he suffered a vicious cut over his right eye. Pascal got off to an early lead in the bout and beat Dawson to the punch with speedy combinations throughout.  Dawson always responded with his own flurries but Pascal was dictating the pace of the bout and was fighting in his backyard.

Dawson has a rematch clause in his contract but the return bout should be even money on the boxing betting line if it is fought at a neutral site. Dawson has the cleaner technique but his lack of focus is an issue. Pascal was able to match Dawson’s speed and appears to be the stronger man.
