Boxing News: Shumenov Dominates Uzelkov To Retain W.B.A Title: W.B.A light-heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov turned in the most impressive performance of his career in his first title defense with a dominating 12-round decision over formerly unbeaten contender Vyacheslav Uzelkov, 22-1, 14 KO‘s. Shumenov, 10-1, 6 KO’s, got planted on the seat of his pants early by a huge counter left hook in the 1st round but recovered quickly and controlled every round thereafter in the ESPN2 Friday Night Fight main event.

Boxing Picks Analysis: In the 3rd round Beibut buckled Uzelkov’s legs with a laser-like counter right at the bell that dropped the challenger hard. Uzelkov was throwing just one bomb at a time for most of the fight while Shumenov fired off sizzling combinations to the head and body. To Uzelkov’s credit he blocked most of Shumenov’s combinations with his arms, elbows and gloves but allowed himself to be outworked throughout. In the 11th it appeared that Shumenvov could score a stoppage when he came out blazing at the bell, putting some good leather on Uzelkov but he couldn’t close the show. Final scores read: 118-108, 118-108 and 117-109.Shumenov cashed in as a -145 Boxing Betting Moneyline favorite.
