UFC 116 Results: Leben Wins by 2nd Rd. Submission Over Akiyama: Japanese MMA star Yoshihiro Akiyama’s UFC debut did not go as smoothly as expected after being upset by never say die American Chris Leben via 2nd round submission. The lightning quick Akiyama controlled the action early as the aggressor. Akiyama mauled Leben with some takedowns but Leben did manage to score some leg strikes. In the 2nd round all hell broke loose as the two middleweights stood toe-to-toe and hurled leather.
 

UFC 116 Results Analysis: Both fighters decided to abandon defense and slug toe-to-toe in the 2nd frame. Yoshihiro drew first blood by buckling Leben’s knees with a left hook. Leben came storming back and staggered Akiyama with a huge left of his own. Both men displayed tremendous chins by eating huge haymakers. Both men began to tire but Leben began to win the war of attrition as Yoshihiro began to huff and puff. In the 3rd frame.
 
Yoshihiro quickly executed takedown and almost made Leben tap out from an armbar. Then in a stunning turn of events Leben dug in a leg triangle choke that made Akiyama tap out.
