Boxing News: Antonio Margarito Returns May 8th Against Roberto Garcia: Former W.B.A welterweight champion and top-10 pound-4-pound entrant Antonio Margarito will return to the ring May 8th against Roberto Garcia in Mexico. Margarito, 37-6, 27 KO’s, lost his title 16 months ago in the infamous “loaded hands” bout against Shane Mosley where Margarito was accused of using Plaster Of Paris on his hand gauze. Garcia, 28-2, 21 KO’s, is an untested Mexican prospect that will be taking a giant leap up in class when he faces Margarito.
 

The Antonio Margarito vs. Roberto Garcia bout is scheduled for 10-rounds for the lightly regarded vacant W.B.C international light middleweight title. The fight will be promoted by Top Rank on the Latin Fury 14 card on PPV. Garcia is a tough slugger that will test Margarito but he will be a heavy underdog, somewhere in the -1000 to -1500 range. In future bouts, however, Mosley showed that Margarito has problems with fighters who have good handspeed and enough slugging ability to get him going in reverse, but unfortunately Garcia doesn‘t have enough of either to stay competitive.
