Yankees vs. Phillies 2009 World Series Odds Update: Tonight’s game 6 of the 2009 World Series will pit two pitching legends going head-to-head when Andy Pettitte vs. Pedro Martinez battle tonight at 7:57 PM ET. The Yankees have decided to go with a three man rotation and they need this game in a bad way to avoid sending C.C Sabathia out on short rest for 2009 World Series game 7. Despite New York typically being a heavy “public” team nearly 70% of the MLB betting action has come in on Philadelphia to win game 6. New York’s MLB betting price has dropped from -200 to -195 at most shops. Gamblers are also favoring the Over on the Total with nearly 80% of the bets on that prop. Below is an in-depth preview to game 6 of the 2009 World Series that will be history in the making with the Andy Pettitte vs Pedro Martinez dueling on the hill.

Yankees vs. Phillies 2009 World Series Odds have New York as a -195 MLB Betting favorites at BetUS.com.

Lineups: Both of these teams have power hitter struggling right now in Philadelphia’s Ryan Howard and Yankees Mark Teixeira. Teixeira at least has hit a home run the series but Howard has been dismal going 3 for 19. The Yankees have two players that are dialed in at the plate in Johnny Damon and Derek Jeter. The Phillies have been powered by the hot bat of second baseman Chase Utley who has been the hottest hitter in the series with 5 HR‘s. Overall the Yankees have the better lineup and are the hotter team at the plate. Advantage New York. The Yankees vs. Phillies 2009 World Series Odds MLB Betting Total is at 9.5 Runs.

Pitching:
Tonight it will be Andy Pettitte vs Pedro Martinez in a battle of former power-pitcher's turned junkballers.  Andy Pettitte is a workhorse that throws an 87-90 fastball with nice cutting action. Pettite also has a tricky slider and big curveball that he works both sides of the plate with. Pettitte has been up and down this postseason and some analyst wonder if his aging body can throw effectively on only three days rest. Pettite has had trouble getting out lefthanders but Philadelphia has been hitting only .243 against lefties overall and .212 in their last 10 games.

Pedro Martinez has pitched pretty well this postseason and will face his New York nemesis on 5 days rest. Once a pure power-pitcher, Martinez is now a cerebral pitcher with pinpoint control. Martinez is an intense competitor that still relies on a sharp curveball with lots of bend and a circle-changeup that he uses masterfully. Martinez’s fastball that once was around 97 MPH now tops out at about 90 MPH but he can paint the corners with it.
