We are weeks away from the 141st running of the 2009 Belmont Stakes and speculation is rising on the Rachel Alexandra Belmont odds. If she races in the Belmont, this filly would be the huge favorite to win. The race is set for Saturday, June 6th at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. It is the third and longest race of the coveted Triple Crown of horse racing. Last Sunday, Rachel Alexandra’s trainer Steve Asmussen mentioned, “I’m very pleased with her, she’s acting well, and everything checked out this morning. She’s very special.” The early sign might have been pointed towards her running in the Belmont. Her owner, Jess Jackson, is known to enjoy challenges and said after the Preakness that his filly would race against males again. 

It’s a tough call to make right now so time will only tell. One thing is for sure, she just ran the two biggest races of her career with little rest time between them. If she is healthy in the coming weeks, she’ll be at the starting gate! If Rachel Alexandra enters, and there is absolutely nobody else who can pressure her, then she wins the Belmont easily. If someone pressures her upfront, then Mine That Bird has a chance to beat her."
