Dialed In Kentucky Derby 2011 Odds Favorite

dialed in kentucky derby favorite

Dialed In has held on tightly as the favorite in the Kentucky Derby 2011 odds leader-board and with good reason. A lot of the other trainers are calling this the fastest horse in the field and even if he is not your 2011 Kentucky Derby winner, he will certainly be a part of a lot of winning exacta, trifecta and superfecta predictions. Dialed In was listed as the 4-1 favorite after being assigned post 8 in a full field of 20 3-year-old's entered to run on Saturday, May 7th, at 6:24pm ET on NBC in the 137th running of the $2 million Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. Dialed In, with Julien Leparoux to ride, has won three of four career starts and will try to become the third Derby winner for trainer Nick Zito, who won in 1991 with Strike the Gold and in 1994 with Go for Gin. Dialed In won the Florida Derby in his last start and is a true contender.

It was obvious from the outset that he had great ability after winning his only start as a two year old despite blowing the start, but the son of Mineshaft was so lightly framed that Zito knew he had to break from his tried and tested ways if he hoped to win the Derby. He cannot afford a bad start in a race that will be a mad scramble on a tight, dirt track over a mile and a quarter with up to 20 runners jostling each other. Dialed In's only defeat came in his third career start, when he took on the older horses, but Zito's patience was beginning to pay off with the colt steadily building up, both physically and mentally. Dialed In's horse racing odds provide a value bet at 4-1, and the fact that he is the top favorite shows how wide open this year's field of horses is at Bodog Sportsbook.

Dialed In certainly got good news on Friday morning when Uncle Mo was scratched after some speculation that he would be. It seems Uncle Mo never really got over a stomach ailment, so his veterinarians and the trainer decided to pull him out of the race and wait until he is back to 100%. If you ask me, I think his absence opens the door for the horses in the first three posts, because they won't have to deal with such a strong horse trying to barrel in from the outside as they come down the home stretch. Look for Ar Char Charch at 10-1 and Nehro at 6-1 to make valiant efforts on Saturday from the 1st and 19th posts respectively, but it will be Calvin Borel that will work his Kentucky Derby magic aboard Twice the Appeal at 20-1. The sloppy track conditions and drawing post number three will help Calvin Borel use his hug-the-rail strategy and will produce a record-breaking afternoon for Borel as he goes for his third Derby win in a row.
