Vancouver Canucks vs Boston Bruins 2011 NHL Stanley Cup Picks Game 6

tim thomas boston bruins

The Vancouver Canucks have a chance to close out the series against the Boston Bruins and become the Stanley Cup picks champions, but they have yet to win a game at Boston in this series. Game 6 is scheduled for Monday at 8:00pm ET on NBC, and it will require every ounce of determination to put away the Bruins. The Canucks are still listed as a -145 Stanley Cup picks favorite to win the series, but the games that Boston has won, have been a lot more decisive than the victories that Vancouver has tallied up. This has the makings of a seven-game series, so I’m expecting Boston to hold serve at home.

Boston is hoping to avoid being bounced in the NHL's final round for the sixth time since winning the Stanley Cup in 1972. Vezina Trophy finalist Tim Thomas saw his shutout streak come to an end at 110 minutes, 42 seconds when Maxim Lapierre tapped in defenseman Kevin Bieksa's wide point shot in the third period. The All-Star net-minder has stopped 774 shots in the playoffs, which is second most in playoff history and the Bruins will need him to play like he did in the first two games in Boston if they are to stave off elimination and push this series back to Vancouver for game 7. The NHL lines at Bodog.com have the Bruins listed as a -145 odds favorite to win game 6, and since every team has been won by the home team, I’m taking Boston to push this thing to the limit.

For Vancouver, Roberto Luongo was roundly questioned and critiqued following a pair of brutal efforts in Games 3 and 4 of the series. The Vezina Trophy finalist rebounded in style by turning aside all 31 shots he faced in a 1-0 victory in Game 5 on Friday night. The Bruins have won their two games based on physicality, so the same game plan will be in effect on Monday night. The folks at PreGame Sports Service will get you set with all your Stanley Cup picks, so make sure and give them a look before submitting your game-6 wager.
