College Football Odds Week 2

bowl championship series

If College Football Odds Week 2 can bring us the fun Week 1 did, we don't see why it shouldn't, then expect a wild ride. The 2009 College Football Odds season is taking shape as one of the best ever. Already the BCS is a mess with a couple of its darlings, Oregon and Oklahoma going down to non-BCS powers Boise State and BYU. Week 1 showed us the strengths in college football - SEC and BIG 12 - and it showed us some weakness - ACC and BIG TEN. Looking ahead to College Football Odds Week 2 and its matchups, the season should build on what has already begun - a wild ride.

The BIG GAME: No. 4 USC vs. No. 6 Ohio State is without a doubt, the most highly anticipated matchup of 2009 College Football Odds Week 2 in the only clash of ranked teams. This game has huge implications especially for the BIG TEN and Ohio State. The Buckeyes desperately need to win this game so it can carry the BCS banner for the BIG TEN. If the Buckeyes lose, the league will probably fall out of 2010 BCS talk. If Ohio State wins it will be considered a major player for the 2010 BCS championship. Sportsbetting.com is currently listing the Trojans as 7-chalk favorites in the game with Ohio State.

Notre Dame vs. Michigan: Anytime you mention - Notre Dame football - fans take notice. After a couple of down years, it appears the Irish are  back. Currently ranked No. 23, Notre Dame will travel to play unranked Michigan at the BIG HOUSE in a nationally televised affair on ABC-HD. The Irish are slight 3-chalk favorites on the Sportsbetting.com College Football Odds betting board.

Clemson vs. Georgia Tech: College Football Odds Week 2 begins Thursday night (7:30 pm ET) with an ESPN-HD nationally televised game between rivals Clemson and No. 15 Georgia Tech. The Tigers (1-0) routed Sun Belt member Middle Tennessee State 37-14 in week 1 and Georgia Tech (1-0) defeated FCS Jacksonville State 37-17. Oddsmakers at Sportsbetting.com lists the Yellow Jackets as 5.5-chalk favorites over Clemson with a 47 total.

BCS Buster: One of the most interesting matchups of Saturday should be the game between unranked teams Wisconsin and Fresno State. This ESPN televised game is another potential BCS-Buster pitting one of better BIG TEN teams against one of the best from the non-BCS WAC. Last year the No. 10 (at the time) Badgers escaped Fresno with a 13-10 win on the Bulldogs home turf. Sportsbetting oddsmakers have installed Wisconsin as 8 1/2-chalk favorites versus the Bulldogs in this one.

Penn State vs. Syracuse:
No. 9 Penn State gets things started on Saturday with a Noon ET kickoff with Syracuse. The Nittany Lions and Orange renewed their rivalry last year and are meeting in Beaver Stadium for the first time since 1990. Penn State owns a 41-23-5 series edge. Sportsbetting.com shows the Nittany Lions as heavy 28 1/2-point favorites while the total is currently OFF the board. This game will be televised on BTN.
