TCU Horned Frogs 2009 College Football Predictions - 2010 BCS Odds: In 2008, the Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs football program was included in a group of mid-major schools with potential of breaking into the BCS mix. Only a close loss to Utah kept the Frogs from getting a BCS Bowl bid having to settle on the Poinsettia Bowl where they defeated then undefeated Boise State.
TCU, like all mid-major programs, are unlikely candidates to win the 2010 BCS championship, however; are one of three programs listed on the Sportsbook.com BCS board.
Sportsbook.com lists TCU as +20000 (200-to-1) odds longshot of winning the 2010 BCS Championship.
The chances of TCU winning a BCS championship don't look very promising but the Horned Frogs will be a contender in the Mountain West Conference (MWC) and with some luck, contend for a quality bowl. For that to happen, TCU must win two crucial road games in ACC territory, at Virginia and at Clemson. These two games will be difficult though winnable for the Frogs. Then TCU needs to win the Mountain West.
The Horned Frogs have a solid nucleus of players returning in 2009 from last season's stellar season including quarterback Andy Dalton. Offensively, the team should show improvement on a team most known for its defensive prowess. What will help Dalton greatly is the return of eight offensive starters including an O-line that returns almost intact from 2008. In that group are Guard Giles Montgomery, Tackles Shae Reagan and Nic Richmond. Also returning is the OL anchor in Center Blake Schlueter. Holding down the end will be returnee TE Shae Reagan.
TCU has been a leader nationally in total defense and expects to be pretty good this year, however; will need to make a few replacements. Still, the majority of the defense returns at six key spots. Returning are Noseman Kelly Griffin and DT Cody Moore on the line and Jason Phillips will be leading the linebacker corps. The Frogs should be solid in the secondary with the return of both lock down corners in Rafael Priest and Nick Sanders and safety Stephen Hodge.
