College World Series 2009: The championship round of the 2009 College World Series begins today at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb., with game-one of the best of three games format series between the two bracket winners, LSU Tigers and Texas Longhorns. There are no cinderellas in this championship series as both Texas and LSU are no strangers to championship play in the College World Series. Texas has won six championships and LSU five.

LSU, the NCAA Tournament No. 3 national seed, enters Monday’s game riding a 13-game win streak. The Tigers opened the CWS with a 9-5 victory over Virginia and defeated Arkansas twice (9-1 and 14-5) to advance to the final series.

The Tigers enter Friday’s game hitting .318 as a team with 103 homers and 113 stolen bases. LSU is hitting .368 (43-for-117) in its three College World Series games with nine doubles and nine homers.

Texas, winners in 11 of its last 12 games, is the Big XII Conference champion, is hitting .289 on the year with 45 homers and 71 stolen bases. The Longhorns are hitting .324 (33-for-102) in their three CWS games with five doubles and six home runs.
