LSU, the NCAA Tournament No. 3 national seed, enters Monday’s game riding an 11-game win streak. The Tigers opened the CWS with a 9-5 victory over Virginia Saturday. The win marked the Tigers’ first CWS-opening victory since 2000.
The Tigers enter Monday’s game hitting .316 as a team with 96 homers and 111 stolen bases. Sophomore second baseman DJ LeMahieu, the second-round selection this week by the Chicago Cubs in the MLB Draft, is batting .345 on the year with 12 doubles, three triples, four homers and 40 RBI.
The Razorbacks are led by first baseman Andy Wilkins, who is hitting .330 with 17 doubles, 19 homers and 57 RBI. Shortstop Ben Tschepikow is batting .318 with 10 doubles, four triples, nine homers and 47 RBI, and outfielder Chase Leavitt is hitting .301 with 12 doubles, two triples, one homer and 30 RBI.
