2009 College World Series: It would be understandable if players on the University of Southern Mississippi mens baseball team feel a little intimidated. After all, they are making their first ever trip to Omaha for the Men's College World Series. Adding to the drama of it, the Golden Eagles are paired with No. 1 national seed Texas Longhorns, a team making its 33rd trip to Omaha which includes six national championships. First pitch for the ESPN televised game is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Texas is considered a heavy -350 moneyline favorite over the 8th seeded Golden Eagles with a 10-run total according to oddsmakers at BetUS.com. Southern Miss backers are getting +250 odds as the underdog.

Lonhorns coach Augie Garrido has confirmed right hand pitcher Cole Green, a sophomore, will get the start for Texas in their opening game with Southern Miss. Green went 5-3 this baseball season with a 3.02 ERA. It appears Garrido will start sophomore staff ace Chance Ruffin (10-2, 3.02 ERA) for game two.

Southern Miss (40-24) is expected to send Conference USA Pitcher of the Year, Todd McInnis, to the mound against the 46-14-1 Longhorns. McInnis, the redshirt sophomore from Brandon, Miss., will be making his 18th start of the year while posting a 9-4 record and a 3.61 earned run average. The right-handed leads the team in strikeouts with 86.
