Despite the fact that Uncle Mo has been listed as the 2011 Breeders’ Cup betting odds favorite for quite some time now, Havre de Grace owner, Rick Porter believes his filly is the most suitable to pull off the upset. After an impressive victory at in the Grade 1 Woodward at Saratoga, Porter and his team are doing all they can for their filly to be in tiptop shape going into this all-important race.

“I'd say we're as close to 100 percent as possible to go in the Classic,” he said after his filly beat Flat Out and the rest of the boys. “If that's the real Uncle Mo, and he improves, and he can get the mile and a quarter, he's going to be an awful tough horse to beat.”

Uncle Mo’s owner, Mike Repole is so focused on winning the 2011 Breeders’ Cup, that he has opted to preserve his colts as much as possible for the showdown with Havre de Grace. Repole and his trainer Todd Pletcher decided not to enter the $1 million Dirt Mile, in which Uncle Mo would have been an overwhelming favorite.

“I'm a racing fan. If I wasn't a racing fan, I'd run Mo in the Mile and be 1-2 and look pretty good in the Breeders' Cup,” Repole said. “The Classic is something I've watched for 25 years; if I had the choice of Havre de Grace being in the race or not being in the race, I want her in the race. It'd be good for ratings, and it's what's best for the sport.”
