One of the premier matchup taking place in tonight’s 2013 Belmont Stakes predictions is the one between Orb and Revolutionary.
These two horses are the projected first and second place winners for tonight’s race, but as we’ve seen in the past, anything can happen in the world of horse racing.
Post time for the 2013 Belmont Stakes is scheduled for 6:40 PM ET and you can watch it live on NBC. Based on the way Belmont Stakes odds makers have been predicting this race, it comes as no surprise that Orb is favored over Revolutionary in this hypothetical matchup.
Currently, the son of Malibu Moon is currently listed as a -175 betting favorite over Revolutionary, who’s been tagged with +145 odds. Now, it’s certainly worth noting that these particular matchups is that no matter who wins the overall race, the winner of these bets is determined on a one-on-one basis.
In other words, if Orb and Revolutionary were to finish as the last two horses in tonight’s race, whoever has the better time, would yield a winning bet. Clear enough? Good! It’s also worth noting that this is not the first time that these horses will compete on the same track.
The last time Orb and Revolutionary went up against one another was at Churchill Downs, where Orb became a household name for winning the 2013 Kentucky Derby. Revolutionary finished third in that race, and was an 8/1 underdog compared to Orb’s 5/1 odds to win that race.
Other than the Derby, Orb’s most notable career wins include: 2013 Fountain of Youth-G2 and 2013 Florida Derby-G1. Revolutionary also comes in with two impressive victories in 2013, as he conquered the Withers -G3 and the Louisiana Derby-G2.
If I had to make a bet between these two, what will my 2013 Belmont Stakes predictions would look like? It’s clear that these two horses are very evenly matched and both have all the tools to conquer the final jewel of the Triple Crown. For my money, I’m going to have to go with Revolutionary in this one, and I’ll tell you why.
His performance at the Preakness certainly showed this horse’s inability to recover from certain positions. On the other hand, Revolutionary has shown to have the ability to win races even from unfavorable positions.
Having that said, the main reason why I like Revolutionary over Orb in this race is the money-line. Listed as a +145 underdog, I love Revolutionary’s ROI based on the type of horse this is. I believe he will have a terrific race, and I think that he will defeat Orb in their one-on-one matchup!
