We have entered Race Week at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, as we are getting things ready for the 2017 Preakness Stakes. It is now Monday morning in the Charm City and horse racing betting experts are gearing up to issue their predictions based on a brand new list of future odds that recently went public.
Last week, we provided OSH readers with the most recent, up-to-date list of top-15 leaderboard rankings and contenders for the 2017 Preakness Stakes. This week, horse racing betting oddsmakers at Bovada narrowed the field to 10 potential, rather intriguing possible entries.
What we will do in this instance is that I will issue my early predictions winner for Saturday’s race, but I reserve the right to change my mind until the post positions are drawn later in the week. the reason being is because the importance of post positions cannot be overlooked, and given the way some of these horses match up, it could prove to be the determining factor.
Those of you that read OSH on a regular basis are very well aware of the fact that I’m kind of on-fire right now, particularly when it comes to prognosticating Always Dreaming’s races. For the record, I predicted the son of Bodemeister would win the Florida Derby despite being listed as an underdog against Gunnevera as well as the Kentucky Derby when he was second-best behind Classic Empire.
For the 2017 Preakness Stakes, everyone is now aboard the Always Dreaming bandwagon, but I’m not convinced he has one more spectacular performance without some help. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe Todd Pletcher’s colt is talented enough to win “The Second Jewel of the Triple Crown,” but it’s all going to come down to post positions.
As a matter of fact, I would not be surprised one bit if Always Dreaming ends up finishing outside the top three should he draw a post position on the far side. If that is the case, horses like Classic Empire and Gunnevera will have a legitimate chance to end Pletcher’s hopes of a Triple Crown and ruin most expetrs’ horse racing predictions.
In either case, I’m taking Always Dreaming as my early favorite, but as I stated above, it’s all going to depend on where he lines up come Race Day. here’s a look at the latest horse racing futures betting odds, but first, let’s make my 2017 Preakness Stakes predictions choice official.
