NFL Week 8 Predictions 2012

by Anthony Mason on Thursday, October 25th, 2012

There are some interesting intradivisional matchups happening in the NFL week 8 predictions 2012, such as the (3-3) Miami Dolphins taking on (3-4) New York Jets. This game kicks off Sunday afternoon at 1 PM ET and the Jets are currently listed as -2.5 point favorites over the Fins [+2.5].

Although Miami comes in winners of its last two and 3-2 over its last 5 games, one gets the sense that the Jets will be too much to handle come Sunday. Despite the fact that New York is 2-3 in its last 5, when you take a look at the level of competition and how close these games actually were, it tells me that the Jets are on a different level than the Dolphins.

Another interesting matchup that could potential affect divisional standings is the battle taking place at Arrowhead Stadium, the site for an AFC West battle between the (2-4) Oakland Raiders and the (1-5) Kansas City Chiefs.

According to NFL betting lines, the Chiefs enter this game listed as -1.5 favorites over the Silver and Black. Even though this game seems irrelevant in the standings, it’s far from it. When you think about it, the Raiders are just one more victory away from being right back in thick of things in the AFC West.

Currently, the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers lead the way in the division, and they happen to be just 3-3. In the case of the Chiefs, they would need a little bit more help to get back into contention, but as we’ve seen in the past, anything can happen.

But, who’s going to win this AFC West struggle? With the Raiders being listed as the underdogs, that’s where my attention immediately goes. If they can come out and establish Darren McFadden it would make life a heck of a lot easier on Carson Palmer and his receivers.

Considering Run DMC has yet to have a breakout game this season, Fantasy Football players better be ready to start him, because this could be the day he put up incredible numbers. Take the Raiders over the Chiefs, and hope that the offense can come out and execute a run-first oriented gameplan.
