NFL Week 5 Predictions 2011

by Jonathan Pou on Tuesday, October 4th, 2011
My NFL week 5 predictions have improved just a bit over last week and after a more exciting Monday Night Football game, we can turn the page and focus on the upcoming matchups. The Indianapolis Colts (0-4) are still winless, but they are getting closer to a win and it is already obvious that Curtis Painter should have started the season as their starting quarterback. After a tough 24-17 loss to the Buccaneers, the Colts will be heading back to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs (1-3), who were finally able to win their first game of the year in week 5. NFL predictions experts have both of these teams finishing the season with a high draft order, but maybe one or both of these clubs can go on a hot run to even out their record.

The Chiefs are trying to overcome the loss of Jamaal Charles – last year’s leading rusher- and they will be heading to play the Colts as 2-point underdogs according to the NFL week 5 predictions opening lines and I like the idea of the Chiefs pulling off the straight-up victory on the road. In another more meaningful matchup, some would say, the Green Bay Packers (4-0) are set to visit the Georgia Dome to battle Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons (2-2) on their home turf. The NFL week 5 lines for this game have set the Packers as 4-point favorites and there is no way I can pick against Aaron Rodgers and his potent offense.

The Packers just hung 49 points on the Denver Broncos last week and although the Falcons are a more complete team than the Broncos, I see the same result in this game. NFL week 5 predictions analysts cannot have forgotten how the Packers dissected the Falcons on their home-field in the 2010 postseason. Matt Ryan will definitely be out for revenge, but this victory is more important for Atlanta, since they have to keep up with the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are already pulling away within the NFC South. The NFL lines at Bodog Sportsbook have the Packers listed as 4-point favorites in this game with the point total set at 53.5, which is a number that will get blown out of the water in this game, prompting me to jump on the Over.
