This game could very well be a playoff preview and after both teams made the playoffs in 2010, both squads are heavy favorites to make it back to the postseason again this year. The Saints boast one of the league’s best offenses and the Bears have one of the best defenses, so this game will be a prime example of two teams matching up their strengths against one another. In Week 1 against a decent Atlanta defense, the Bears managed to put up 377 net yards of offense, with Jay Cutler throwing for 312 yards and two TDs, while running back, Matt Forte, rushed for 68 yards on 16 carries and caught five passes for 90 yards and a TD. The Bears’ offense goes as these two players go, so if New Orleans can at least take Forte out of the equation, they will have an easier time covering their NFL week 2 betting lines on Sunday.
Against the Packers, the Saints offense racked up 500 yards of offense, with Drew Brees passing for 419 yards and three TDs. The Saints were without WR Lance Moore and unfortunately for the Saints, they’ve now also lost WR Marques Colston for a while with a broken clavicle. Though Colston is an integral part of New Orleans’ passing game, it always seems that the next guy steps in and performs just as well and the Saints offense rarely skips a beat. The Saints will also rely on the small but explosive Darren Sproles, who accounted for 250 total yards against Green Bay and scored on a 92-yard punt return. The Saints are listed as 7-point favorites at Bodog Sportsbook and aside from expecting New Orleans to even their record at 1-1 with a straight-up win this weekend; they will have trouble covering the spread with limited weapons in the passing game.
