This year’s Super Bowl 2014 has generated so much of a buzz, that everyone has an opinion and free “winning” predictions. The funny part about this while thing is that there’s a difference of opinion when comparing bettors and the so-called NFL “experts”.
This week, some of CBS Sports’ analysis, including Rich Gannon and Phil Sims, got together to issue their predictions for Super Bowl XLVIII. Surprisingly, three of the four picked the Seattle Seahawks to defeat the Denver Broncos.
On this Wednesday morning, the Broncos remain -3-point Super Bowl odds favorites versus the Seahawks (+3) and the projected point-total tallies 47 points. In case you live under a rock, the 2014 Super Bowl takes place Sunday night from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Fox.
Continuing with the free Super Bowl predictions 2014 theme, writers from around the country have also thrown their picks and predictions into the hat. Bleacher Report took the time to collect these predictions and put them all together to create a consensus pick.
In the end, 13 different personalities gave their opinions, and the Denver Broncos edged out the Seattle Seahawks 7-6. Ok, so, thus far we’re tied 1-1 in favor of each team, which leads me to my next point: What does the betting population think about this whole thing?
As stated earlier in the week, almost 70% of ATS bets favor the Broncos over the Seahawks (30%) and 52% like the “Over” rather than the “Under” (48%) in this matchup. I guess the final tally is mine – do I agree or disagree with these numbers? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: This game will come down to which team has the better kicker.
After dissecting numbers and statistics all week, I’ve determined that the Seahawks will cover with a +3 spread, but the Broncos will win the game on a last-second field goal by Matt Prater – don’t be surprised one bit of this game goes to overtime.
