New York Giants vs San Francisco 49ers NFL Playoff Picks 2012

by Blake Stevens on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

We are all set for one of the best NFL playoff picks 2012 matchups we could have asked for! On one side, we will have Tom Coughlin’s New York Giants, as he tries to capitalize on one of his final opportunities to win a Super Bowl as an NFL head coach. Across the sidelines will be a man that needs no introductions, and he’s only in his first year as an NFL coach: Jim Harbaugh!

"I think it probably surprised a lot of people that the Giants and the 49ers are in the NFC Championship Game," Harbaugh said.

Who’s going to win this chess match between these great football minds? With just a few hours away from kickoff, NFL playoff picks 2012 experts have adjusted their lines, slightly. Although the San Francisco 49ers [-2] are still the betting odds favorites, it will only be by 2 points rather than the opening lines that had them at -2.5 over the New York Giants [+2]. What are you waiting for? Bet Giants vs 49ers and enjoy all the bonuses and perks being offered to new and returning customers of only for Championship Sunday!

One of the biggest reasons as to why Harbaugh has succeeded where many have failed was his belief in quarterback Alex Smith. After being a bust in terms of his accomplishments after being drafted as the first overall pick, Smith finally lived up to the expectations this season. Although having a tremendous defense certainly doesn’t hurt, Smith’s defining moment as a Niner came in last week’s Divisional game against the New Orleans Saints.

"He has great mental toughness," Harbaugh said. "He has a way to be focused and loose in the most pressure situations. He’s got that makeup about him that allows him to play and execute."

My NFL Playoff picks for this game is the same as it has been all week long: I still like the Giants with the 2-point cushion on the road. I think the biggest surprise in this game is going to be the G-Men’s running game. I believe that the combination of Brandon Jacobs and Ahman Bradshaw will eventually wear this 49ers defense down after coming out of the gates with high emotions.

This game is going to come down to the last few minutes of the game. Now, while the Niners were able to keep their intensity and physicality throughout the game last week, they will not be able to do it this time around. It was a great season for Harbaugh and all the 49ers fans, but unfortunately, it ends tonight!
