It was a historic Wild Card weekend as for the first time since 1981 not a single game was competitive. The total margin of victory in the four Wild Card games this weekend tallied a whopping 76 points. We now put all that behind us, as our attention now shifts over to the 2017 Divisional Round, the opening betting odds and our early NFC playoff predictions (later in the week I will release my AFC predictions as well).
Luckily, the two NFC matchups happening this weekend promise to be much more entertaining and competitive… or do they? For the record, the remaining teams in the National Football Conference are the (1) Dallas Cowboys, (2) Atlanta Falcons, (3) Seattle Seahawks and (4) Green Bay Packers. NFL betting experts are sure to have their hands full this Saturday and Sunday, as the Hawks will battle the Dirty Birds and the Cheeseheads will go into Big D to take on the top-seeded ‘Boys.
(10-5) Seattle Seahawks [+4.5] vs. (11-5) Atlanta Falcons [-4.5]: The Georgia Dome is going to be rocking Saturday night anticipating what should be a war between two contrasting teams. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. ET and it will be broadcast live on FOX. Why are these ballclubs contrasting in terms of styles? It’s no secret at this point what each one wants to do, as the Falcons want to fly high with their vertical offensive attack, while the Seahawks hope to contain the dynamic quarterback-wideout duo of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. Even though it’s Monday morning, there’s already plenty of action coming in for this contest. At the present time, Atlanta accounts for 59 percent of the ATS action while the Seattle only has 41 percent of the betting population putting their money on them on the road. Personally, I’ve seen way too may instances where great defense beats high-scoring offense, and I have no reason to suspect this game will play out any different. The fact that 2017 Divisional Round betting odds are as such, makes my life (and in turn, yours) so much easier. Take the points and watch the Hawks go into enemy territory and do what they do best.

(10-6) Green Bay Packers [+4] vs. (13-3) Dallas Cowboys [-4]: There’s so much excitement in the Lone Star State for this weekend’s Divisional Round it’s palpable. With so much anticipation, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be the site for a mega-showdown between Aaron Rodgers’ Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys special rookie combo of quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott. Opening kickoff is scheduled for Sunday at 4:40 p.m. ET live on FOX. As you can see, pro football odds makers believe Dallas is good enough to stop the massive momentum Green Bay has generated over the past several weeks. Having that said, NFL betting aficionados aren’t buying that notion, because as of Monday morning, action has been pretty one-sided. With 65 percent of the early action on their side, the Packers are projected to cover a rather generous spread, while the Cowboys have gathered 35 percent of the early betting action. I couldn’t agree more with those figures, and in fact, I believe that the smart bet in this game is to go straight-up on Green Bay. For those who share that sentiment, it’s worth noting that SU money lines for this contest have the Packers valued at +157, which makes for a terrific bet. For those who don’t feel as confident as I do about who will win this game outright, taking Green Bay with a four-point cushion is an absolute no-brainer.
