The 2017 NBA Championship playoffs are moving right along, and the more things change, the most they (seem to) stay the same. That’s because by the looks of it, we might be headed for the exact same two teams battling it out for the Larry O’Brien Trophy later this year. However, there’s a wrinkle in terms of the NBA Finals series that could affect pro basketball betting action and predictions.
Unlike what we saw last year with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers defeating Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, NBA betting odds experts believe that the boys from the East Bay will enact revenge on what was a monumental collapse. But before we get to that, it’s worth noting that the remaining six teams still in the tournament have been given practically zero chance of representing their respective conferences in the 2017 NBA Finals.
For the record, the remaining teams are the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards, Toronto Raptors and Utah Jazz. After watching Tony Parker go down for the remainder of the season, the Spurs pretty much disqualified themselves from winning the whole thing.
The rest of those pro basketball predictions teams, well, they simply have a ways to go before they can measure up to the Cavs, Warriors and Spurs. Hence, it comes as no surprise that every single of those clubs’ chances at this point are pretty much in the stratosphere. That leaves us with the initial question: Who will prevail in this two-horse race between the Cavaliers and the Warriors.
It’s clear that LeBron James is the greatest NBA player on the planet right now. Having that said, are the Cavs really the team to beat? The answer to that is a resounding “No.” Not sure how many of you will be surprised by this, but I’m actually 100 percent in accordance with NBA futures betting oddsmakers in this one.
The addition of Kevin Durant in my opinion put the Warriors above the Cavaliers and the 2017 NBA Championship series will show just that. Don’t get me wrong, I expect things to be highly-contested and every game will likely come down to the wire. Nevertheless, I have no doubt in my mind that the smart money is clearly on Golden State… yes, even at -225.
