Michigan vs Louisville National Championship Predictions & Odds

by Anthony Mason on Monday, April 8th, 2013

The Michigan Wolverines will be trying to become just the second fourth-seed in NCAA Tournament history to win the National Championship basketball predictions.

But what do the National Championship odds say about their chances? For what it’s worth, this morning’s NCAAB betting lines have the Louisville Cardinals listed as -3.5 favorites versus Michigan.

The OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 138 points and alternate money-lines go as follows: Louisville (-175) vs. Michigan (+155). The National Championship predictions & odds game is scheduled top tipoff tonight at 9:23 p.m. EST on CBS Sports.

For the underdog Wolverines, the success this basketball team has enjoyed this season has not only been surprising for the rest of the country, but to the University of Michigan itself. Considering the long history of tradition the school’s football teams have constructed, the basketball program has a lot of catching up to do.

“We still have a ways to go,” said senior Michigan point guard, Tim Hardaway Jr. this week. “Football has a lot more national championships than we do.”

The Cardinals can relate, as Louisville isn’t talked about among the elite universities of the United States or the state of Kentucky for that matter. Instead, it has been the Kentucky Wildcats the ones that have built a winning tradition, which makes Rick Pitino & Co. want to work that much harder to chip away.

“We’re not a who’s who like Harvard and Yale in the alumni world,” said the Hall of Fame coach. “We’re a blue-collar school that supports each other. One of the coolest places I’ve ever worked.”

Nevertheless, tonight, all those storylines go out the window, as for one night, one of these often overlooked schools will shine the brightest in college basketball’s biggest stage. It’s clear that Louisville has lived up to its top-seeding, blowing one opponent after another, while also showing resiliency and a fighting spirit.

On the other hand, the Wolverines have shown what happens to teams that have taken them lightly. That has not only built this team’s confidence and reassured them that they belong, but they are now on the brink of immortality.

In the end, for as good as the Cardinals have been, they showed a little vulnerability against Wichita State in the Final Four. After watching the way Michigan handled a team that was playing as well as anyone in the Syracuse Orange, I believe they’re the team to beat.

Having that said, with a two-bucket cushion as the National Championship basketball odds, there’s no way I would pass up on a Michigan bet as my National Championship basketball predictions. Sign up to receive free NCAA National Champinship picks right here!
