University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, OH, will be the site for a great NCAA bracket picks 2012 First Four battle between the (20-13, Conf: 12-6) South Florida Bulls [+2] taking on the (24-9, Conf: 13-5) California Golden Bears [-2].
This game will decide which team will occupy the 12 seed in the Midwest bracket and will go on to play Temple in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The opening tipoff is scheduled for tonight at 9 PM ET and it’ll be broadcasted live on ESPN. According to college basketball picks 2012 experts, the projected OVER/UNDER line between South Florida and Cal is set at a low combined total of 115 points.
For the Bulls, they finished the regular season tied for fourth in the Big East, earning a NCAA tournament invite for the first time since 1992. The last time they made it to the Madness, USF was ousted in the first round. In fact, if the Bulls can get past Cal, it would represent their first NCAA tournament victory in school history. Nevertheless, with suffocating defense and a young leader in Anthony Collins, South Florida believes it belongs with the big boys.
“I believe we have proven to be one of the best teams in our league,” said USF head coach Stan Heath. “We have the kind of team that can be successful in the NCAA tournament. There was a team last year (VCU) that people thought shouldn’t be in and they got to the Final Four.” Get you free NCAA bracket picks right here!!!
For the Golden Bears, they finished second in the revamped Pac-12 only a game behind the regular season champion Washington Huskies. Cal was able to make it to the semifinals after getting past Stanford in the conference tournament last week. But Colorado just seemed to have their number late in the season, defeating Cal twice, including a 70-59 victory that catapulted the Buffaloes to a Pac-12 tournament title.
The Golden Bears feel that tournament organizers have disrespected them by making them play in the First Four, and for it, they plan to make a statement by crushing the Bulls Wednesday night.
“I feel like it is a little disrespectful. It shows you how they feel about the conference,” said sophomore (PG) Justin Cobbs.
