Florida State vs North Carolina ACC Conference Championship Predictions

by Blake Stevens on Sunday, March 11th, 2012

This has been the year of the third seeds in the opening portion of college basketball’s postseason, and the ACC conference championship predictions is no different. Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA, will be the site for the ACC conference tournament title game between the (23-9, Conf: 12-4) Florida State Seminoles [+6] taking on the (29-4, Conf: 14-2) North Carolina Tar Heels [-6].

This interesting matchup is scheduled to tipoff today at 1 PM ET and it’ll be broadcasted live on ESPN. According to college basketball betting odds makers, FSU and UNC are likely to combine and score an OVER/UNDER total of 152 points this afternoon.

For the Seminoles, this team is playing with a lot of confidence right now that they can close the deal and bring the conference title back to Tallahassee. FSU is actually 3-1 against North Carolina and Duke following Saturday night’s 62-59 victory over the Blue Devils. Get your free college basketball predictions right here!!!

“We knew that if we didn’t guard them extensively for 40 minutes, they would be more than capable of hurting us on the offensive end,” said FSU coach Leonard Hamilton of going up against Duke last night. “We grew up a little bit when the game was in doubt, and the communication between the team made me think they were learning.”

A win today would give the Noles their first ACC tournament championship. But in order to do it, they’re going to have to take down one of the best teams in the country this year in the fourth ranked Tar Heels. UNC will be looking to avenge its worst loss of the season when the Seminoles routed them at home, 57-90 on January 4, 2012.

“We’ve come a long way since then,” said FSU’s junior guard, Michael Snaer. “We can’t think about that game and try to use that game to go out and win. It’s North Carolina, it’s not going to be that easy.”

UNC is coming off a very tough, emotional game its last time out before eventually defeating North Carolina State, 69-67. Kendall Marshall led the way for the Heels with a double-double, while Tyler Zeller has a whale of a game with 23 points on 8-for-11 shooting and 9 boards.

“Right now, we feel very fortunate to say the least,” added UNC coach Roy Williams. “If you want to put lucky in there, you can say that as well.”

OSH ACC conference championship predictions: Given the way these teams have matched up this season and looking at the FSU vs UNC betting odds, I like an upset in this game. Take the Noles with 6 points to spear in what should be a very close and physical contest!
