Minnesota Timberwolves vs LA Clippers 2012 NBA Predictions

by Blake Stevens on Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

With the All-Star Game in our rear-view mirror, teams are ready to begin the second half of the season on the right foot. Two of the most exciting young teams in this league will meet tonight at the Staples Center, as the ever-improving, (17-17) Minnesota Timberwolves [+6.5] visit the 2012 NBA predictions favorites, (20-11) Los Angeles Clippers [-6.5]. This game is scheduled to tipoff tonight at 10:30 PM ET and it’ll be broadcasted live on PRIME and FSNN-MIN. According to 2012 NBA predictions specialists, the Timberwolves and the Clippers are projected to combine and score an OVER/UNDER total of 196.5 points.

For the Wolves, their progress can be seen on a game-to-game basis. While right now this team may be a very mediocre bunch, the amount of talent and potential they have is undeniable. Currently sitting in fourth place in the Northwest Division, Minnesota would miss the playoffs if the season ended today.

But there’s good news for Timberwolves fans, as they’re one game from the 8th and final spot in the Western Conference playoff picture. Minnesota hasn’t been to the postseason since 204, when they had a guy by the name of Kevin Garnett as their leader. Coach Rick Adelman hopes to change that trend by making a serious push in the second half of the season.

“We’ll see if we can keep this thing going,” he said. "We’re going to have to be playing well, and we’re going to have to have a lot of guys stepping up if we’re going to maintain what we’re doing.”

For the NBA betting odds favorite Clippers, this team is not only on the verge of making it to the playoffs for the first time in six years, they’re also working on being a force to be reckoned in the West for years to come. The addition of Chris Paul has had an immediate impact on this club, despite losing Chauncey Billups to a season ending, and potentially, career-ending injury.

The Clippers tipoff the second half leading the Pacific Division by 1.5 games ahead of the rival Lakers and would actually be the third seed of the playoffs began tonight. After tonight’s game against the Wolves, the Clippers are sure to be tested, as they’ll embark on a brutal 6-game road trip that would include two back-to-backs.

“After the break, that’s when it gets serious” said CP3. “Definitely a lot of room for improvement. Obviously we haven’t peaked yet and we can keep getting better.”

Timberwolves vs Clippers NBA predictions experts believe that the home team will prevail by at least two three-pointers tonight. I do believe the Clippers will play this game with a sense of urgency. Their upcoming road trip could mean a change atop of the standings with the Lakers ready to overtake them for the top spot. I like LA at -6.5 over the Timberwolves tonight!
