South Florida Bulls vs Syracuse Orange NCAA Basketball Predictions 2012

by Blake Stevens on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

Undefeated at home this season, the second ranked (27-1) Syracuse Orange [-13.5] welcome the NCAA basketball predictions 2012 underdog (17-10) South Florida Bulls [+13.5] this evening. The opening tipoff for this exciting Big East matchup is scheduled to get underway tonight at 7 PM ET on ESPN. According to NCAA basketball predictions 2012 specialists, South Florida and Syracuse will combine and score an OVER/UNDER total of 140 points scored.

For the USF Bulls, they come into this game sitting in fourth place and with a 10-4 record in the Big East Conference. This is the first time that the Bulls have been able to win conference 10 games. Many people attribute USF’s success to the play and will of freshman guard, Anthony Collins.

Scoring a career-high 22 points in USF’s road victory at Pitt and being a key contributor at Villanova, Collins is slowly building a reputation as a scorer. The question is can Collins do enough for his team to defy most NCAA basketball predictions, which have the Bulls losing by almost 14 points?

“I just tried to hustle and grab the ball,” he said. “I saw that Hugh was there, and I (passed it) up to him.”

For the Orange, this team comes in looking to extend its 2-game lead in the Big East and secure a top seed in next month tournament. Syracuse has been on a tear this season, as their only loss came in a 58-67 hiccup at home against Notre Dame. Since then, the Orange have bounced back to win 7 straight, including wins against Georgetown, Louisville and Rutgers.

For many teams, a 27-1 record, including a 14-1 mark in conference play, would make their head coach joyful. But for a perfectionist, there’s always something to improve on. Not only does Jim Boeheim think his guys can play better, he truly expects them to pick up their play and build momentum before the Madness begins.

“I don’t think we are playing the way we have to,” Boeheim said. “I thought in the beginning of the year we had some good movement in games, and I thought we were playing better on offense then.”

Despite the fact that I don’t agree with them much lately, I actually like the college basketball odds for this USF vs Syracuse game. Much like coach Boeheim, I too believe that this team still has the capabilities of improving as a ballclub. In fact, the Orange are one of my favorite picks to win the National Championship this year and thus, I like them over the Bulls tonight.
