The chase for the National League Central Division crown is heating up, as the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates play the series finale of a four-game set and we’ve got your free MLB predictions 2013.

PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA, will be the site for this exciting matchup between two of the best teams in the National League. First pitch for this series finale is scheduled for 7:05 PM ET and it’ll be broadcast live on FSMW, ROOT.

According to MLB odds specialists at Bovada Sportsbook, the Pittsburgh Pirates are currently listed as betting favorites to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals in this one-sided series. Experts list the Pirates as -125 favorites over the Redbirds, who will have a +105 betting line.

The OVER/UNDER for tonight’s game is set at a combined total of 8 runs, with the UNDER being favored at -125 rather than the OVER, which has a line of -105 attached to it. In addition, alternate money-lines for this great matchup go as follows: Cardinals +1½ (-210) vs. Pirates -1½ (+170).

For the Cardinals, this team comes into this game losers of seven straight games, which has put them in a position to play catch-up with the Pirates. St. Louis enters this series finale trailing Pittsburgh by 2.5 games and looking to get back on track before things get out of hand.

On the mound tonight for the Redbirds will be RHP Joe Kelly (1-3, 3.44 ERA) as he looks to play the role of stopper for his team.

For the Pirates, they come in winners of four straight ballgames, seven of their last 10 games and looking to run away with the division title. As mentioned above, Pittsburgh has a 2.5 game lead on the Cardinals, but that’s not a very comfortable lead by any stretch of the imagination.

Looking to keep the momentum going, Clint Hurdle sends RHP Charlie Morton (3-2, 3.59 ERA) to start tonight’s game.

Free MLB Predictions 2013: As you can see, both of these pitchers have very similar records as well as ERAs. I believe that tonight’s finale will come down to whomever pitcher is able to do a better job of damage control.

In the case of Kelly, he has pitched in five other occasions against the Pirates, and unfortunately for the road them it hasn’t been pretty. In his 14.0 inning pitched, Kelly has surrendered 18 hits, 10 runs (all earned) and 2 home runs, while issuing 6 free passes and punching out 10. For the record, that’s an ERA of 6.43, a WHIP of 1.71 and a forgettable .316 BAA.

In the case of his counterpart, Morton also has had some outing against the Cardinals he would love to forget. In his 11 starts versus the Redbirds, Morton has the following numbers: 54.0 IP, 69 H, 39 R, 37 ER, 4 HR, 32 BB, 37 K, and a 6.17 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and .317 BAA. I like the Cardinals’ chances to salvage the series finale against the Pirates and I certainly like the OVER in tonight’s free MLB picks game.
